Cristina McAllister is a self-taught artist who has explored many techniques and mediums.
Her work is informed by an insatiable curiosity about the Natural World, ancient and indigenous cultures, ecology, religion and spirituality, sacred art, symbolism and more.
These explorations have taken her on a journey of learning and realization that ultimately reconciled science and spirituality. Decades of exploring the very real wonders of our living world through science inspired a spiritual realization - a sacred connection to the Earth and the complex systems that create and sustain all Life.
"As human beings, are not separate from or above other forms of life, but literally related to, intimately connected with and dependent upon the entire diverse range of lifeforms on Earth. We are one family, one sacred system that must be respected and balanced if life is to survive and thrive."
Her recent work focuses on expressing the notion of the Earth as a sacred living being.
"When we connect with our planet and all of the beings that inhabit it in a sacred way - with an attitude of respect, awe and reverence, we are naturally inclined to consider the impact our actions have upon the Earth, and all living things, including ourselves.
"I hope my work will help raise awareness of how our living planet functions and inspire a reverent attitude toward it. I think this shift is essential if we are to evolve a sustainable civilization, which is essential to our very survival."
