In the 1070’s, scientists James Lovelock and Lynn Margulis developed the Gaia Theory.
This theory, named after the primordial Earth goddess of Greek Mythology, proposed that living organisms interact with their inorganic surroundings on Earth to form a complex, self-regulating system that helps to maintain and perpetuate the conditions for life on the planet.

In the decades since scientists have gathered more and more evidence that this general notion is true.
Wild plants and animals - simply going about their business within their ecosystems - are what create and maintain the breathable atmosphere, stable global temperature and cycles of nutrients that make life on Earth possible.

These wild natural systems, co-evolving over millions of years, built our living world before humans ever arrived on the scene.

These wild places are vital for our survival.
Their protection and nurturing is necessary for our survival.
