Cristina McAllister is a self-taught artist who has explored many techniques and mediums.
Her work is informed by an insatiable curiosity about the Natural World, ancient and indigenous cultures, ecology and spirituality, sacred art, symbolism and more. She combines Fantasy imagery with Ecological Reality, seeking to express the very Real wonders of Life on our precious planet.
These explorations have taken her on a journey from the City to the Forest, to experience intimate Relationship with the Wild World and re-contextualize herself as a Human being among a society of equal species.
Half a lifetime of exploring the very real wonders of our living world through science inspired a spiritual realization - a sacred connection to the Earth and the complex systems that create and sustain all Life.
"As human beings, are not separate from or above other forms of life, but literally related to, intimately connected with and dependent upon the entire diverse range of lifeforms on Earth. We are one family, one sacred system that must be respected and balanced if life is to survive and thrive."
Her recent work focuses on exploring and expressing the intertwined, interdependent systems of ecology that Create and Sustain our Living World.
"I hope my work will help raise awareness of how our living planet functions and inspire a truly respectful, reverent, protective and nurturing attitude toward Nature. I think this shift is essential if we are to evolve a sustainable civilization, which is essential to our very survival."
