Artist's Description
The tiny, secretive fae beings who reside in the Old Growth Forests love to adorn themselves with garments of leaves, mosses and lichens, decorated with iridescent beetle shells and bright, jewel-like mushrooms and sporophytes.
These curious clothes do not last long – each outfit is assembled on the go, various elements added as they are discovered in the environment, other parts discarded at will. They seem to serve mainly as camouflage and self-expression, though the mosses may also serve as water reservoirs that keep the Fae cool and quenched in dry environments.
The Fae seem to be able to communicate and cooperate with every kind of Life – from bacteria to trees and animals. They can collaborate with spiders to spin delicate veils, or with lichen colonies to grow elaborate crowns, collars, etc.
